Tonight Jule played Quelf for the first time. It's a board game that really more to have fun than to compete to win. You need to have a good sense of humor and no shyness to play it.
It's a game where you can lose points for getting very hard questions correct. (Because if you can do very hard math problems, then you're too smart and should move backward a space.) There are rules that you must obey if you are unlucky enough to land on a rules space. One rule we had to follow was that we must hold up something that was bigger than our fist... for the whole game. There are other crazy things that you must do. One card made me jump up, run to the window, scream "It's raining outside" then run to the sink, splash my face with water, and run back to the table dripping wet and say "How did you avoid getting wet?" I also had to balance a set of keys on my head until my next turn.
Jule had to spin in a circle seven times. She also had to act as a dog to Marissa who was her dog trainer. We watched Jule sit, beg, play dead and fetch with Marissa giving commands. Hilarious, to say the least. Those are just a few of the crazy things that we had to do as a part of Quelf. It's a completely senseless game, quite frankly, but it is entertaining.
This is Dylan (the younger Alexander boy) acting like a yoga master to fulfill one of his Quelf challenges.
Anyhow, just another memory for Jule's travel bag!
